Alex Whittler is an American journalist who currently works as a reporter and anchor at FOX5 Atlanta. She anchors the 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. newscasts. She joined the station in January 2020.
Whittler began her education in 2008 at La Cueva High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and graduated in 2012. She later joined Loyola University Chicago in 2012, where she majored in political science and dance. In 2016, she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She then joined Medill Journalism School in the same year and graduated in 2017 with a master’s degree.
Most notably, she began her journalism career in Chicago. In Chicago, she worked in all but one of the city’s TV newsrooms, including WMA, WNG, WBBM, and WLS. She had internships for Cosmopolitan magazine and the TODAY show. In addition, she went on to write freelance articles for TODAY.com, Cosmopolitan, and NBCNews.com.
Most recently, she anchored and reported from Richmond, Virginia. She covered breaking news events, from the Virginia Beach mass shooting to the near-record snowfall. She also covered the deadly tornadoes caused by Hurricane Florence. When she’s off-duty, she looks for ways to get involved in the community. She speaks to students and organizes charity events.
