Andrew Klavan is an award-winning American writer known for his crime and thriller novels. However, he also worked in films and as a video essayist and satirist. He is also known for being a five-time Edgar Award nominee and twice won. Furthermore, he is also a conservative commentator and host of The Andrew Klavan Show Podcast on The Daily Wire.
He attended the University of California, Berkeley, majoring in English Literature. Before becoming a full-time writer, he was a radio and newspaper reporter. He started out as a liberal writer before transitioning to a conservative writer during the Reagan administration.
His detective writing career began using the pseudonym/fictitious name of Keith Peterson. He wrote four John Wells mysteries and his first psychological thriller novel, The Scarred Man. Klavan has written detective novels in his name and the Homelanders series for young adults. He wrote the 1990 Michael Caine film titled Shock to the System and the screenplay for the 2008 horror film titled One Missed Call.
The Mystery Writers of America awarded him two Edgar Awards, a Thumping Good Read Award from WH Smith, and he was nominated for both the Anthony Awards and the International Thriller Writers Award. His recent book, The Truth and Beauty, was published in 2022. Andrew has produced several satirical video series online and currently does a weekly podcast for the Daily Wire.
