Andy Farnsworth Biography
Andy Farnsworth is an American journalist who has currently been a main traffic anchor for KSL since 2003. For nearly a decade, he was Utah’s only air traffic reporter and was KSL NewsRadio’s “Eye in the Sky” before land at KSL Traffic Center. Andy is currently the main transit anchor for “Utah’s Morning News with Grant & Amanda” from 6am to 9am. In addition, he has covered traffic for BYU home football games, occasionally reports for TV and radio, and fills in as a co-host on “The Nightside Project” and “The Browsers” on KSL Radio.
He’s been involved with traffic reporting in one form or another since 1998, when he started his radio career at Metro Networks as an intern distributing traffic updates to on-air talent during morning car hours. After that, he got the chance to produce the traffic updates and spent some time writing and producing news and sports news for radio. He then became the air traffic reporter for three stations in 2000.
The reason behind him being an air traffic reporter for three stations was because he was literally the only person there at the time. He spent nearly 10,000 hours in that tiny Cessna 172. Plus, he was on the plane during the 9/11 attacks, the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics, and nearly every 1-15 rebuild project.
