Anne Heche is an American actress, screenwriter, and director, best known for Six Days Seven Nights (1998), Donnie Brasco (1997) and Wag the Dog (1997). She made her entertainment industry debut with a daytime soap called ‘Another World’.
Heche started her career on the soap opera, Another World where she is currently famous for starring in the series ‘Men in Trees’. She made her film debut in 1993 after participating; An Ambush of Ghosts. However, she always credits her role in Donnie Brasco for bringing her significant attention to her career.
In the year 2004, Anne was nominated for her first Primetime Emmy Award for Gracie’s Choice 2004. Later, in 2006, she had her own series Men in Trees which made her a well-known figure in the field of acting.
Born and raised in Aurora, Ohio, United States of America, Anne grew up in a conservative religious family. Her father died of AIDS when she was just 12 years old, leaving the family in a difficult economic situation. To help her family survive, Anne began acting in a dinner theater in New Jersey. However, the family later moved to Chicago.
It was while in high school when Heche got her first break when a talent scout saw her in a school production. Immediately after her graduation, Anne moved to New York to work on the daytime drama; Another world. In this show, she played the twins Marley and Vicky Hudson who had different personalities. Making the transition to the big screen, Anne appeared in 1993’s An Ambush of Ghosts. In 1997, she landed a role in the film Donnie Brasco, playing the wife of undercover FBI agent Johnny Depp. Her performance in the film earned her critical and commercial praise.
While there was some speculation about the end of her career, Anne continued to shine. She appeared as a lawyer in Return to Paradise with Vince Vaughn. The duo worked once again on Gus Van Zant’s remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s classic Psycho.
In 2004, Heche made a return to small-screen films later earning her first primetime Emmy nomination for her work on the film Gracie’s Choice. After getting her own series, Men in Trees in 2006, Anne began modeling her own character. She kept pushing constantly in films like Cedar Rapids in 2011 and Catfight in 2017.
Anne starred in the HBO series Hung from 200-2011. This led to a lead role in the short-lived series Save Me and Aftermath. In 2017, she began appearing in the NBC military drama The Brave.
