Austin Love is an American journalist who works as a weekday morning reporter at WKYC in Cleveland, Ohio. He joined the station in April 2018. Despite being a newcomer to Northern Ohio, he quickly found the best the area has to offer. This includes good food, recreation, breweries and friendly people.
Born in Rockford, Austin got his first taste of television in Phad’s broadcast journalism classes at Boylan Catholic High School. Austin then went to the University of Iowa, where he majored in Communication Studies and Entrepreneurship. It was here that he found his passion for storytelling. While in Iowa, Austin worked for the Daily Iowan, ESPNU, Big Ten Network and WFLA.
Before coming to Cleveland, he worked at his hometown station WREX. He ended up winning two Emmy Awards and an Associated Press Award as a morning anchor and reporter. Over the course of his career, he has covered a wide range of stories. He covered the destruction of Hurricane Harvey in Huston.
With every story he tells, Austin’s goal is to tell it by giving voice to the unsung heroes of the community. Austin recently became a member of the Real Men Wear Pink initiative. The main objective of the initiative is to raise money and awareness about breast cancer through the American Cancer Society.
