Barbara Morse biography
Barbara Morse is an American journalist who currently works as a Health Check anchor and reporter at NBC10 News. She anchors the station’s midday newscasts and joined the station in June 1995. Prior to joining her current station, she worked as a weekend general reporter at WISH-TV in Indianapolis, television anchor/reporter at WLVI -TV in Boston.
Furthermore, she worked as a general reporter at WLNE-TV in Providence and also worked as a news reporter at WAND in Decatur. Throughout her career, she has received numerous awards and Emmy nominations. She was nominated for Emmy Awards in 1993, 1999, 2001, 2008 and 2004. Barabara also won an Associated Press Award in 2008 for her report on shaken baby syndrome.
Additionally, in 2019, she was inducted into the prestigious Silver Circle, one of the highest honors bestowed by the New England National Academy of Arts and Sciences for her dedication to mentorship and volunteerism. On top of all that, she is an active member of the community, spending much of her spare time volunteering for non-profit organizations in her area.
Over the years, she has received numerous awards from organizations including A Wish Come True, The Tomorrow Fund, Rhode Island Blood Center, Rhode Island Black Nurses’ Association, among others. She spent her early years in Detroit before moving to Indianapolis.
Regarding her formal credentials, she holds a BA in Speech Communication from Indiana University. She is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and is the immediate past president of the Association of Black Journalists of Southern New England.
