Bill Johnson biography
Bill Johnson is an American Christian minister, evangelist, traveling speaker, author, and senior pastor at Bethel Church in Redding, California, United States of America. He is a familiar face to many, as he has appeared in television segments broadcast on the Christian Broadcasting (CBN) and Trinity Broadcasting networks, in Sid Roth’s It’s Supernatural and in a few faith-based documentaries.
Bill has seen his church grow from 2,000 members when he joined in 1996 to over 12,000 today. He has taken public conservative positions on same-sex marriage, abortion, open borders and many other topics.
Bill Johnson early in life
Johnson attended John Wimber’s Signs and Wonders conference in 1987 with a definite goal in mind: to investigate whether the cure could be revived. He came away frustrated because he believed that John Wimber was preaching the same things, but the result was significantly different. According to Johnson, this disappointment led to the realization that faith required risk and that it was only after this realization that healing miracles began to occur.
Also, in 1995, he attended several Toronto Blessing revival meetings in Toronto, Canada. In these sessions, Johnson claims to have received a new touch from God, leading him to dedicate his life’s work to seeking the Holy Ghost and the gifts of the Spirit.
Johnson founded the Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry in 1998 with Bethel Senior Associate Leader Kris Vallotton to train surrogates to become Pentecostals.
Johnson is a fifth-generation clergyman who has served as Senior Pastor of Bethel Church since 1996. He is known for leading a congregation and Christian development that is driven to seek the blessings and manifestations of the Holy Spirit in everyday life, for the simple reason that God it is wonderful.
