The gallant 6ft 2inch Bruce Jenner was born on October 28, 1949, in Mount Kisco, New York City, under the maiden name Bruce Williams Jenner as a son of William Hugh Jenner and Esther Ruth Jenner. He has two sisters Lisa and Pam and a brother Burt, who they lost in a car accident in 1976. Jenner spent his childhood days in New York City and attended Sleepy Hollow High School, where he completed his first and second years before transferring to Newton High in Connecticut to complete his junior and senior years. After graduating in 1968, he received a football scholarship that enabled him to attend Graceland College in Iowa, which he graduated from in 1973 with a degree in physical education.

His first competition was in 1970 when he participated in a decathlon during a relay race in Iowa, where he finished fifth. The Olympic athlete continued to break records in most of his races, and in 1974 he took first place in the men’s decathlon and was on the cover of Track & Field News magazine. In 1975, he won a gold medal at the Pan American Games and broke a record set by athlete Avilov at the Eugene Triangle Games, in which participants from the USA, the USSR, and Poland took part.
