Bruce Rockowitz is a Canadian businessman and former professional tennis player who rose to fame as the husband of Hong Kong-born American singer Coco Lee, who passed away on July 5, 2023, at Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong China. Coco had a history of depression and committed suicide and died at the age of 48. Bruce and Coco had been married for ten years at the time of her death. Bruce is now the President and CEO of Rock Media International and co-founder of another company called Pure Group.
Rockowitz was born in Toronto, Canada, but grew up in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. He grew up as a very smart and focused boy who loved playing tennis and other sports. Bruce completed high school at a public school in his hometown. He then enrolled at the University of Vermont to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, but dropped out to play professional tennis in Hong Kong in 1979. He even became the head tennis coach for the Hong Kong Country Club and began coaching Li & Fung, who was the immediate president of the country club.
Rockowitz began her career as a professional tennis player who was signed by a Canadian ex-Pat named Allan Xeman after meeting at an ice cream parlor in Hong Kong. The two grew closer and Alann helped Bruce launch the Colby International company in 1981. In 1986, Bruce became the CEO of Colby International until 2000. Victor Fung and Li & Fung decided to acquire the business for $2.2 billion with Bruce as the acting actor. CEO from 2011 to 2014. It was during this time that CoCo Lee’s husband received his billionaire title. In 2014, he left Colby and became Vice President of Global Brands Group, a subsidiary of Li & Fung specializing in the manufacture of accessories for brands such as Calvin, Kate Spade, Coach and Tommy Hilfiger. Bruce currently runs the company Global Brands and co-founded the restaurant and fitness chain The Pure Group.
