Jolyon Carlyle Palmer is a British motorsport commentator and columnist, known for being a member of the Formula One driver who previously drove for Renault for a year. He won the 2014 GP2 Series championship which landed him a trial role at Lotus in 2015. He is currently working as a color commentator for F1 TV and has appeared on BBC Radio 5. In addition, he is also known for being the son of former F1 driver and main owner of the UK racing circuit, Jonathan Palmer. Jolyon was born and raised in Horsham, England. He completed his schooling at Dorset House School and later enrolled at Cranleigh School. Thereafter, he attended the University of Nottingham, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Management Studies. Shortly after, he began his professional career in 2004, joining the MiniMax kart drivers before moving to the T Cars championship Autumn Trophy. There he finished fifth in championship contention with a total of 92 points, 46 behind championship winner Adrian Quaife-Hobbs.
He subsequently joined the main championship and took one pole with four podiums, and again finished fifth in the championship with 101 points. Jolyon is also the four match against six match winner. That same year, Parmel also participated in the Grand Prix weekend and also appeared in Free Practice One in China. In China, he finished 15th overall on his first visit to the Shanghai circuit.
