Catherine Garcia is an American journalist who currently works as a co-anchor at NBC7 since 2003. She anchors the San Diego News at 4pm with Monica Dean and the News at 6pm and 11pm with Mark Mullen.
A native of California, she graduated from the University of Southern California, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Spanish. She also studied abroad through the Semester at Sea program, traveling to South America, Africa, and Asia.
After her graduation, she began her career journey in journalism working behind the scenes at CNN’s Atlanta headquarters and with the CNN Los Angeles Bureau. Catherine also spent three years in Austin as a morning anchor at KTBC-TV and one year in El Paso at KTSM-TV as an anchor and reporter.
Before joining her current station, she worked as a morning and weekend anchor for ABC station WFAA in Dallas, Texas. She then joined NBC7 in 2003 and has been working there ever since.
