Charles Stanley is the senior pastor of First Baptist Church located in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. He is the founder and current president of In Touch Ministries after his service as president of the Southern Baptist Convention from 1984 to 1986.
He graduated from University of Richmondlater obtaining a Masters in Divinity from Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He later went further, earning his Th.M. and Th. D. degree in theology from Luther Rice SeminaryFlorida, United States.
At age 12, Charles became a born-again Christian youth. Furthermore, at the age of 14, he started his life mission in Christian ministry. He joined First Baptist Church of Atlanta in 1969, serving as senior pastor in 1971.
A year later, Stanley launched a half-hour religious program, The Chapel Hour. The Christian Telecast Network debuted this program in 1978. Additionally, in 1982, Stanley established another service, In Touch Ministries, his radio broadcast becoming a syndicate.
