Charlie Shortino is an American meteorologist who currently serves as chief meteorologist and morning presenter on Weather Net WMTV, NBC 15, based in Madison, Wisconsin. Shortino has been predicting the weather on television since 1994. Additionally, he has been a morning meteorologist for NBC 15 since 1994 and became chief meteorologist in 2010.
In addition to his weather reports, Shortino owns and operates WeatherNet, Inc., a weather consulting firm. The company serves many customers including Madison Gas and Electric, Alliant Energy, the City of Madison, various construction companies, school districts and municipalities. In addition, he also served as an expert witness in climate-related civil and criminal cases.
Shortino attended and graduated in 1988 from University of Wisconsin-Madison with a BA in Meteorology. Fortunately, after graduating, he joined the Air Force and became a pilot before returning to Madison in 1990.
Furthermore, during Charlie’s spare time, he enjoys playing golf as a fan and also playing, cooking, reading, gardening, and watching sports. Due to his love of gardening, he has a pumpkin grower. He started growing squash in his backyard with his longtime friend Clint. However, the pumpkin was donated to the Bruce Company for the annual Harvest Festival.
