Clint Bowyer Biography

Clint Bowyer is an American former professional stock car racing driver who has covered the NASCAR Cup Series for Fox Sports as an analyst since 2021, alongside Jeff Gordon and Mike Joy.

Bowyer’s final season of NASCAR competition in 2020 saw him increase his FOX NASCAR broadcast role as an analyst for various NASCAR XFINITY SERIES and NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES races. In addition to the inaugural season of NASCAR iRACING PRO INVITATIONAL SERIES on Fox Sports.

After several years as a driver analyst for the FOX NASCAR Drivers Only NASCAR XFINITY SERIES annual race broadcasts and select Xfinity events, he has increased his TV role. In 2017, alongside Kevin Harvick and Joey Logano, Bowyer was part of the original Drivers Only broadcast team.

Clint has had a great NASCAR career with some of the most famous teams in the sport, winning 10 NASCAR CUP SERIES races, the 2008 NASCAR XFINITY SERIES championship, eight Xfinity wins, and three NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES triumphs before moving to the commentary booth. Clint debuted in NASCAR in 2004 with Richar Childress Racing, where he competed in 17 NASCAR XFINITY SERIES races before returning for a full season in 2005 and 2006. Childress first came to his attention at a 2003 ARCA MENARDS Series event in Nashville. Superspeedway, where he led 47 laps and finished second. On his way to third in the points standings, he won. his first Cup Racing series in September 2007 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. At RCCR, he continued to participate in both series at the same time and won the NASCAR XFINITY SERIES title in 2008. From 2004 to 2001, Clint won eight Xfinity Series races and five NASCAR Cup Series races in RCR.

Bowyer joined Michael Waltrip Racing in 2012, winning at Sonoma Raceway, Richmond Raceway and Charlotte Motor Speedway in his rookie year and finishing second in the points standings. He has ten top-five results in 2013, on his way to a seventh-place finish.

In 2017, he took over Stewart Haas Racing from three-time champion Tony Stewart. Clint finished the season in 11th place, losing just one NASCAR playoff position. He started out racing dirt bikes in his home state of Kansas before moving on to stock cars and motocross in 1985. He has won over 200 races and several titles since then. In his hometown of Emporia, he owns a car dealership where he previously worked as a lot attendant, teeth specialist and detailer.

In 2008, Clint founded the dirty model team that won the 2014 Lucas Oil Late Model Series championship. With a donation from The 79 Fund, his charity fund, he built the Clint Bowyer Community Building in 2012. The street where it is located the Bowyer family towing company was renamed, Hon. Clint Bowyer Boulevard in 2012.

On October 8, 2020, he revealed that he would be joining the Fox Sports broadcast booth full-time for the 2021 season, stepping away from the driver’s seat.
