Born Daniel Mark Pudi, professionally known as Danny Pudi, Danny is an American actor/comedian who has starred in over forty-five television films and feature films since his debut.
He is best known for his role as Abed Nadir in Community – an NBC/Yahoo! comedy series that was broadcast from September 2009 to June 2015. The series was set at a community college in the fictional town of Greendale, Colorado, and starred other well-known actors and actresses including Yvette Nicole Brown, Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Donald Glover, Chevy Chase, Jim Rash, and Ken Jeong.

Pudi was born on 10 March 1979 as Daniel Mark Pudi in Chicago. His mother Teresa is a programmer and analyst, but his father’s profession is unknown. He is of Indian-Polish descent.
His father Abraham is of American Indian descent and his mother is Polish, Danny speaks Polish. He grew up in Chicago, attended Notre Dame College Prep, and Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from where he received a degree in communication and drama in 2001.
While Danny Pudi was in Chicago, he studied at a dance school. At Marquette University, he received a one-year scholarship from the Chris Farley Scholarship Program (he was the first recipient of the scholarship). In addition to paying his one-year tuition fees, the fellowship was used to perform at an improvisational comedy event, which was also attended by two renowned American stand-up comedians – Dave Chappelle and Jim Breuer.
This experience spurred Pudi’s desire to study improvisation and led him to perform at a summer theater in Wisconsin after his studies at Marquette. He also studied at The Second City in Chicago.

Career
After high school, Danny Pudi worked for an executive research firm as a recruiter before finally moving to L.A. in 2005 where he started looking for television and film roles. He was fortunate that his home office gave him the opportunity to audition. According to him, this helped him avoid the difficult actor thing, as he was constantly appearing in several TV pilots before he finally got a role in the community.
He played as Arash in the comedy Road Trip: Beer Pong from 2009 (the film, unfortunately, received more negative than positive reviews), he also appeared in the horror-comedy Knights of Badassdom as Lando. He could be seen in the music video The Understanding- the Jones Street Station.
Danny has also made a cameo appearance in several Internet videos, including A Monologue for Three entitled BriTANicK, a live episode of Hot in Cleveland, and in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
In 2014 he starred in an off-Broadway musical FOUND, and in 2017 he played Teddy in Powerless (an NBC sitcom) and sang the Huey in the reboot of DuckTales.
He has also shot television commercials for companies such as McDonald’s, Pokémon, Snickers, T-Mobile, and Verizon. He was a prominent candidate for The Pyramid alongside community co-actress Yvette in 2012.

Danny is happily married to Bridget Showalter. The couple met as freshmen at Marquette University and tied the knots in 2004 after several years of dating. They welcomed a pair of twins in 2012 – James Timothy and Fiona Leigh.
