Deiah Riley Biography
Deiah Riley is an award-winning American journalist who currently serves as an anchor on WFTS Channel 28 in Tampa, ABC Action News since 2003. She previously worked for WXIA-TV in Atlanta as a night anchor for fourteen years. Deiah is also a longtime supporter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, where she promotes awareness of domestic abuse hotlines and shelters.
Riley is an engaged member of her community, having volunteered for various charities, civic groups, schools and neighborhoods. She is also a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Gamma Theta Omega Chapter of Incorporated. In addition, she is a founding member of Women for Gulfside Hospice and Palliative Care, which provides quality, compassionate care to individuals and their loved ones as they face life-limiting illnesses.
Deiah is also in high demand in the Tampa Bay area as an MC, speaker and presenter. She was a speaker at the Women’s Health Series at the University of South Florida and a keynote speaker at the Women’s Health Symposium at Florida Hospital. Riley was fortunate enough to be named a leading figure in Tampa Bay by Tampa Magazine. The Tampa Bay Association of Black Journalists honored her with the Legacy Award.
His contribution as a leader and impact on Tampa’s African American community has also been recognized by the United Negro College Fund. Deiah enjoys mentoring children and feels that we all have a responsibility to use our connections and influence to open doors for others.
Riley holds a BA in Mass Communication from Bethune-Cookman Faculty. She enjoys cooking, running and cycling in her spare time. In 2017, she completed the Gasparilla Half Marathon. She also created the popular ABC weekly series Action News Dinner on a Budget, in which she reveals and prepares her favorite recipes.
