Georgina Beyer Death Cause And Obiotuary: Did Trailblazing NZ Transgender MP Die Of Illness?: Many are looking for Georgina Beyer’s death cause the news of her death at the age of 65 went viral on social media.

Georgina Beyer is a well-known New Zealand lawmaker and member of parliament for the Labor Party. Georgina made history when she was voted mayor of Carterton in 1995 becoming the world’s first openly transgender mayor.

In 2005 Beyer became the world’s first publicly transgender member of parliament. Furthermore, the parliamentarian was one of the very few former sex workers who held legislative office.

Beyer worked as a sex worker and nightclub performer before joining politics. In 1995 she was elected mayor of Carterton a small village on New Zealand’s North Island. Four years later she was elected to the national parliament for the liberal Labour Party where she remained until 2007.

The prime minister of New Zealand Chris Hipkins admitted he didn’t know Beyer directly but was aware of her widespread popularity and profound influence on the national legislature.

Georgina Beyer Death Cause

Georgina Beyer’s death reason has not been disclosed by her family friends or medical institutions.

Beyer reportedly died quietly under healthcare according to friends. Perhaps after this difficult period, the medical reports will be made public and available to the family.

Beyer had previously encountered kidney failure and needed daily dialysis for four years before receiving a kidney transplant in 2017.

However, it is unknown whether Georgina Beyer’s death was caused by a kidney issue or another disease.

The politician was a signatory to the landmark Prostitution Reform Act of 2003 which decriminalized sex work.

Similarly, in 2004, she worked to get a measure allowing same-sex civil partnerships passed. Same-sex marriage was legalized in New Zealand nine years afterward.

Beyer previously worked in Wellington’s gay nightlife first as a performer and drag queen then as a sex worker.

Georgina began working as a radio presenter after moving to Carterton Wairarapa. Beyer was the local newsreader and a founding part of the Today FM breakfast team when it was owned by Paul Henry.

Furthermore in the 2020 Queen’s Birthday Honours Beyer was designated a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to LGBTIQA+ rights.

Georgina Beyer Obituary

People and lawmakers from all over the world are sending prayers and condolences to Georgina Beyer’s family in the aftermath of her untimely death.

On Monday afternoon a message from a friend Scott Kennedy indicated that Beyer had died in hospital care at 3.30 p.m.

Kennedy also stated that Georgina had been surrounded by her closest friends and family for the past week and Beyer accepted her faith and cracked jokes until her last breath.

On March 6 2023 at 3.30 p.m., the politician died quietly in Mary Potter Hospice.

Beyer stated that she wanted to honor people who may have been transsexual but never came out.

Georgina’s friends told the media that there would be no funeral as requested by the politician but that a memorial service would be held shortly.

Former Labor minister and United Future head Peter Dunne described Beyer as a “natural committed trailblazer” who will be missed on Twitter.
