Osvaldo Palacios Flores, better known as El Mariana, is a Mexican streamer and content creator who has become one of the most recognizable faces in the Spanish-speaking livestreaming world. Born on July 23, 1998, in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, he has built a career on a mix of gameplay, improvisation, and a deliberately chaotic persona that resonates with millions.
Who Is El Mariana?
El Mariana is a streamer, YouTuber, and TikToker who first gained traction through short clips of his live gaming sessions. These clips, often featuring his reactions and comedic commentary during games like Call of Duty: Warzone, spread rapidly on TikTok and other platforms, funneling new viewers to his longer Twitch broadcasts. Over time, his streams evolved into a blend of gameplay and conversational segments, where his personality and storytelling took center stage.
His real name, Osvaldo Palacios Flores, is often overshadowed by his online alias. The name “El Mariana” has an origin story rooted in his early gaming days: while playing with friends, they needed a female character for a game that offered free clothing, and he adopted the name Mariana. The nickname stuck, and it became the brand he is known by today.
Early Life and Background
Before streaming became his full-time focus, El Mariana was a student of computer science. He studied up to his sixth or seventh semester and took online classes. During this period, he worked as a programming intern for about four months, earning around 4,000 pesos monthly. In interviews, he has said that he left the job once he saved enough to buy a laptop capable of supporting content creation. This transitional phase, from intern to full-time creator, is a key part of his origin story and reflects his determination to pursue streaming.
He is private about his family and personal life, keeping most details out of the spotlight. What is known is that he is Mexican, from the northeastern state of Tamaulipas, and that he has been active online since around 2016 or 2017, with early gaming videos still visible on his YouTube channel.

He faced Spanish creator YoSoyPlex in the main event and lost by judges’ decision. His training and preparation were documented in the film El Cuarto Round.
