Biography of Eric Holthaus
Eric Holthaus is an American meteorologist who currently works as a climate change journalist for his own weather service called Current. Prior to his current job, Eric worked as a lead writer for The Correspondent for Grist, Slate, and The Wall Street Journal. He is even more popular online for his many articles on Global Climate Change and other climate-related topics. Eric is also the author of the famous and bestselling book on climate change called The Future Earth. In 2022, Eric also became known for launching a popular safe social media service based around climate change protection alongside Abbie Veitch called Project Mushroom.
Holthaus was born and raised in Kansas City, USA, in a working-class family of Italian-American descent. He grew up a smart kid who developed a passion for chasing the weather after his home was hit by Hurricane Sandy. Eric passed his high school studies at a local private school based in Kansas. He then graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from Saint Louis University in 2003. Eric then advanced his studies and earned his Masters in Climate and Society from Columbia University. Holthaus also holds a Ph.D. in Geography and Development from the University of Arizona.
Eric then began his career in meteorology by writing about Hurricane Sandy in the form of a substantial weather report below. He then advised various groups and individuals on how to deal with various climate changes. One such group included the Ethiopian Subsistence Farmers Group and other international groups. However, Eric abandoned the group work because his various air travels were some of the contributing factors to climate change.
Holthaus then focused his energy on co-founding and launching the Warm Regards Podcast alongside Andy Revkin. He also worked as a writer for The Correspondent at The Wall Street Journal until he left in 2020. From there, Eric became an advocate for the Green New Deal and released his book The Future Erath the same year he left The Correspondent. He has now settled in Minnesota with his wife and son.
