Georgie Tunny is an Australian journalist and television presenter. Tunny is best known for her work as a presenter on Network 10’s The Project. Previously, she worked on the ABC News series Breakfast.
Tunny was born and raised in Brisbane, Queensland. She attended the University of Queensland, where she graduated with a double Bachelor of Arts and Journalism degree in 2013. While at university, she received eight Dean’s Commendations for outstanding academic performance and the “Academic Merit Scholarship” in 2009. her career with an internship at The Courier-Mail in 2012. That same year, Georgie interned in broadcasting at ABC.
From 2012 to 2013, she was part of Clive Palmer’s relations team at Andrew Crook Publicity. After that, she moved to work at Fox Sports Australia, where she worked for three months before being offered a full-time job at ABC. Furthermore, she served as a freelance reporter and presenter for one year. Furthermore, she worked as a sports reporter and presenter for two years. Georgie joined ABC News Breakfast in 2018, where she has worked as a producer and host ever since.
In 2021, it was announced that Tunny was leaving ABC after working for eight good years. She would go on to work hosting the daily News Flash segments on Foxtel’s streaming news service, Flash, launched earlier that month. Next, she worked on The Project replacing Carrie Bickmore alongside Chrisie Swan. That same year, Georgie left the streaming platform Flash after being named a permanent member of The Project, as a producer, reporter and presenter. In addition, Tunny was also a member of Network 10’s coverage of Melbourne Cup Carnival horse racing in 2021 and 2022.
