Hamish Donald Blake is an Australian comedian, television and radio presenter, actor and author. He is known for acting in Hamish & Andy’s ‘Perfect’ Holiday (2019), True Story Avec (2020) and Real Stories (2006). Born and raised in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
Donald attended primary school at Glen Waverley South Primary and secondary school at Caulfield Grammar School. Subsequently, Blake graduated from St Leonard’s College in 1999. After the cancellation, they created a short documentary entitled The Greystone 2800 about a couple who accidentally bought an open house after failing to read the fine print in buying a home. The film won the Melbourne Comedy Festival short film competition and attracted the attention of comedian Rove McManus. McManus’ company, Roving Enterprises, also helped the pair develop Real Stories, a mock current affairs show that aired on Network Ten.
In addition, Hamish has also appeared in several Australian television series including Spicks and Specks, Thank God You’re Here, Twentysomething, Australia’s Brainiest Comedian, The Librarians and The Panel. He was also featured on the UK version of Thank God You’re Here. In 2008, he was the negative team speaker at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s annual televised Grand Debate.
Blake and Lee launched a national radio show to direct titled Hamish & Andy on the Today Network. The show quickly gained popularity, ending up with nearly a million listeners in Melbourne, ahead of popular 3AW radio host Derryn Hinch. Additionally, the show reached number one in four of Australia’s top five capital cities in 2008. The same year, they also made a guest appearance on the Australian soap opera Neighbours.
In addition, Blake and Andy have also appeared several times on Channel Ten’s Good News Week and The 7 PM Project. He is a founding member of an “insult rock” band, Coolboys and the Frontman, along with Andy Lee and Jack Post. Furthermore, Blake also worked on a radio show and podcast.
