Glenn Thrush is an American journalist, commentator, and anchor who currently works as a reporter for the New York Times. He is a former White House correspondent. Additionally, he is an MSNBC contributor. Previously, he was Chief Political Correspondent for Politico and Senior Editor for Politico Magazine.
He attended and graduated from Sheepshead Bay High School. Here he graduated in 1984. He later attended and graduated from Brooklyn College where he majored in political science and Greek classics.
He began his career as a reporter working for the Manhattan weekly Downtown Express. Thrush was an education and political reporter for the defunct Post Herald in Birmingham, Alabama. Later, he was a reporter and editor for the New York political newspaper City Limits There, he covered low-income housing and child welfare during Mayor Ruby Giuliani’s administration.
He joined Bloomberg News to cover New York’s hospital industry in the early 2000s. He later worked for Newsday as a City Hall reporter, covering Mayor Michael Bloomberg. He also covered Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign. That was for Newsday. He also joined Politico in July 2008. In December 2016, it was reported that he would be joining The New York Times. When he joined, he was covering the White House as of January 3, 2017.
However, he was suspended from his post in November 2017 amid allegations of sexual misconduct. He returned to The New York Times after a two-month suspension in January 2018. Additionally, he wrote two e-books about President Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign. The books were published in 2012.
