Sharla McBride is an American journalist who currently works as a sports anchor, reporter and fill-in news anchor at WUSA-TV, a CBS affiliate in Washington DC. Furthermore, she joined the station in March 2020. Growing up in Texas, she attended and graduated from a local high school. She then joined the University of Georgia where she majored in Broadcast Journalism with a major in international affairs.
After graduating, she got her first job as a sports reporter at KTXS-TV in Texas. There she covered high school and college sports. She, however, left the station a year later. After leaving the station, she moved to Philadelphia. Here she was hired as a sports anchor on NBC Sports. She anchored the sports week night at 6pm and 10pm. However, in 2013, she left the network to join WNEP-TV. She was hired as a sports anchor and reporter for seven years. This season, she covered MLB, NFL, AHL, Penna State, local high school and college sports.
In 2015, she was transferred as the station’s night anchor. McBride co-anchored the 6, 7, 10, and 11 p.m. news on weekdays. She, however, left the station after docking for five years. It was after this that she joined her current station in March 2020. She has been working at WUSA-TV as a sports anchor ever since.
