Sol Xochitl is the ex-wife of boxer Mike Tyson. Xochitl and the baddest man on the planet were together in the 2000s when they became parents of two children.
Unlike Mike’s other partners, Sol didn’t have as many of the privileges that come with being in a relationship with a famous athlete. Given that most of the boxer’s ex-girlfriends/partners admit that they had a hell of a good time when they were dating him, Sol was probably the only one who did not get to enjoy Mike’s wealth to any extent.
To find out why this was the case with Xochitl, keep reading. Read also about the most haunting episode of her life and how she has been coping with the trauma ever since.
Sol Xochitl Is A Mexican
Xochitl was born in 1975 and 1976. Xochitl is said to have had Mexican parents and was accordingly born in Mexico. Her former boxer boyfriend has sometimes referred to her as Mexican.
Other than that, there is hardly anything to say about Tyson’s ex-girlfriend, especially when it comes to her life before meeting the legendary boxer. She is probably the least talked about ex-girlfriend of a celebrity.
Xochitl Met Mike Tyson At A Strip Club
Tyson reveals that he met Sol at a strip club in Phoenix, Arizona. Sol, whom Mike calls Shelley in his biography, was a stripper when he first met the boxer.
The former undisputed world heavyweight champion says he liked Shelley very much.
“She kept her house immaculate and she did a lot of stuff with me. Was a fitness freak, so when I’d work out and go run, she’d run with me. I’d run five miles, she’d run ten. She’d always one-up me.”
Michael says Shelley tried to work on their relationship. He said she would talk to Mike’s girlfriend Hope and get advice from her on how to make him happy.
Sol Was A Fitness Freak; Not Even Mike Would Beat Her
In the book, Mike recalls a time when he and assistant Darryl were throwing a fifteen-kilogram medicine ball, and Shelley got in on the action. Iron Mike goes on to tell how he and Sol threw the ball two hundred and fifty times, and it hurt him, but she kept throwing with Darryl.
“This ninety-pound Mexican chick must have done five hundred throws. She wore our asses down.”
Mike writes about his ex-girlfriend.
Mike Was Completely Broke When Xochitl Dated Him
At the time of his affair with Tyson, he owed around 27 million US dollars, 17 million of which was for unpaid taxes he owed to the tax office and the English tax service. The other USD 10 million were personal expenses, which included money he owed his ex-wife Monica for the divorce, the mortgage and huge legal fees.
Tyson claims that he was so shocked and angered by the whole bankruptcy thing that he simply gave up his house. He goes on to explain that he had no fights planned, but he was exercising and getting drunk anyway.
During that time, he and Sol spent time in Phoenix. The New Yorker revealed that he was so poor that he ate Frosted Flakes and Twizzlers for dinner with his then-girlfriend Xochitl.
Tyson revealed that every now and then he would arrange an autograph signing somewhere and charge twenty-five dollars for each one to get by.
Sol Xochitl Almost Didn’t Have Her Son Miguel Leon
Mike confesses that Sol had told him that she was not going to give birth to Miguel Leon. The boxer explains that he was in a difficult financial situation and had no idea how he could care for another child.
I was broke and in debt by then. She kept saying she was going to get an abortion, but she didn’t.
Fortunately, Miguel Leon saw the world and is now a multi-instrumentalist who plays drums, guitar, and piano.
Times Yet Again Weren’t Right When Sol Was Pregnant With Tyson’s Late Daughter, Exodus
Tyson was struggling financially when his then-girlfriend Xochitl became pregnant with her second and Tyson’s fifth child, Exodus. At the time Sol had just given birth to Exodus, Tyson had paid a hefty fine to a local guy. Boxer damaged his car one day before the birth of his late daughter.
So Mike tried to get him a fight so he could make some quick money. Eventually, he fought Kevin McBride but lost to him. Shortly after that fight, Tyson retired from fighting.
Sol Xochitl Did Her Best To Keep Her Daughter Alive
On 26 May 2009, Sol and her then-partner experienced the darkest moment of their lives: the death of their daughter Exodus. Their little girl was playing on the treadmill at their home in Arizona and somehow got tangled in a wire.
Exodus lost consciousness, then his brother Miguel found him, and then his mother came. Sol, who was busy cleaning the house, immediately called an ambulance when her daughter was freed. Later documents revealed that Exodus’ mother “was doing everything she could when this tragic accident happened”.
Sergeant Andy Hill said Xochitl started artificial respiration and continued to do so until police and firefighters arrived. The dispatcher and Shelley’s call indicated that she found blood in the child’s mouth. The dispatcher then told her to remove the blood and start CPR, which she did.
Ambulance records show that Shelley called the dispatcher and said: “My baby! She’s choking!”
The recording of the conversation also shows that Xochitl was crying continuously while still trying to get her daughter to breathe. However, the next day, when her daughter was rushed to St Joseph’s Hospital, Shelia lost her daughter.
Why Did Xochitl Disappear?
After the tragic incident of her daughter’s death, Ksohitla became a completely forgotten name. Mike writes in his book “The Undisputed Truth” that after the death of Exodus, she could not even take care of her second child, Miguel.
While it cannot be denied that she may still be mourning the loss of her four-year-old girl, it is possible that the pain has eased to some extent since then. For now, Xochitl is just another name once associated with a much-discussed personality who has, however, been completely forgotten.
