Ivan Watson is an American journalist currently working as an international correspondent for CNN based in Hong Kong. Earlier in his career, he was a producer for CNN based in Russia and later was a reporter for NPR. Furthermore, he covered civil unrest in Egypt. Watson graduated from Brown University in 1997 in international relations.
In addition, he reported from Moscow and NPR based in Istanbul, Turkey, before joining CNN in 2009. In 2000, he reported for NPR in West Africa. He also covered Afghanistan for five years starting in 2001, during which time he was based in Istanbul, Turkey. However, Watson once found himself involved in a protest in Turkey and was detained for 30 minutes.
