Jessica De Nova is an American journalist currently working as a reporter for ABC7 Eyewitness News in Los Angeles. Prior to joining ABC7 News, Nova worked at KTVL, the CBS affiliate in Medford, Oregon. Her passion for storytelling and cultivating unique stories comes from her own American experience.
Jessica grew up in Santa Ana, California, as an undocumented immigrant after leaving Mexico at the age of three. Throughout her life, Nova shared her story and often found support from her teachers, friends, and community. Eventually, Jessica enrolled at California State University Long Beach, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry.
Her journalism career began in 2012 in southern Oregon, where her husband worked as a firefighter. While at CBS affiliate KTVL Channel 10, Jessica covered President Barack Obama’s visit to Roseburg following the shooting at Umpqua Community College.
In 2016, Nova hosted Morning Edition with Jefferson Public Radio, became a U.S. citizen, voted for the first time, and ran her first marathon. Jessica then moved from the Cascades to the San Francisco Peaks in Flagstaff, Arizona, where she was a bureau reporter for NBC affiliate KPNX, later transferring to the station in Phoenix.
Additionally, in 2017, Jessica relocated to Las Vegas to cover the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival shooting and to Florida to report on Hurricane Irma. Nova is now excited to be back home working at ABC7 News.
