Jim Deshaies is an American journalist and former Major League Baseball (MLB) who played for six teams over 12 major league seasons. He is currently a color commentator for Chicago Cubs game broadcasts.
For his MLB debut, he played for the New York Yankees on August 7, 1984. He also set some career records. On September 23, 1986, in a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, he set a Major League record by knocking out the game’s first eight batters.
In 1992, he joined the San Diego Padres and later played for the Minnesota Twins, San Giants and Philadelphia Phillies. On July 31, 1995, he retired following his release by the Phillies.

Deshaies was a commentator for Astro TV broadcasts from 1997 to 2012. He gained respect as an analyst and enjoyed very high popularity among Astros fans during his tenure. He later moved to the Chicago Cub TV broadcast in the 2013 to 2016 seasons.
The Cubs have announced play-by-play extensions for Deshaies and Len Kasper through 2019. This was as of January 10, 2017. He currently works as a color commentator for the Chicago puppies.
