Jim Rose is an American sports anchor and reporter who has worked for ABC 7 Chicago since January 1982. He reports for ABC 7’s frontline news at 4 pm and 6 pm. In addition, he plays an important role in the station’s programming specials. Prior to joining ABC 7, Jim worked at WIXT-Tv in Syracuse, New York.
Jim began his career in sports broadcasting while serving in the United States Army, serving as sporting director for AFN-TV in Berlin, West Germany, between 1973 and 1975.
He is also vice president of the Swan Group, a non-profit group founded to donate the “Sawan House” to a Chicago-area single mother who managed to earn her academic distinctions in college.
After 4 years of sweating and many donations from the community, Rose’s hard work has paid off. In October 2006, he handed over the keys to a 2,000-square-foot home to a mother of two with an average grade of approximately 3.8. Rose valued this achievement more than any other honor he has ever received during his career. He continues to volunteer in his time to help many charitable groups and worthy causes throughout the Chicago area.
