Joe Dana is an American news anchor and investigative reporter for 12 News. He is a fourth-generation Arizonan who grew up in Glenda. During her 12-year career, Dana has received numerous awards for reporting in print and broadcast media, including two first-place awards from the Division Nine Society of Professional Journalists.
As a teenager, Joe was already finding ways to cover news in the valley as a newspaper editor at Apollo High School in Glendale and a youth reporter for The Arizona Republic. After high school, Joe joined the Institute of Political Journalism at Georgetown University.
Dana earned a bachelor’s degree in print and broadcast journalism from Brigham Young University. He also worked for the Conservative News Service in Washington DC before joining the 12 News staff.
During his career, Joe has covered issues ranging from education funding to capital murder trials. He also investigates polygamy in northern Arizona and immigration in southern Arizona. As a journalist, Dana has her first priority in holding politicians and powerful people accountable for their actions.
When not working, Joe is a volunteer mentor and ambassador for the Phoenix Youth at Risk mentorship program. You can also see him at one of the valley’s skate parks reliving his youth as he tries to avoid serious injury.
