Biography of John Solomon
John F. Solomon is an American journalist who was a contributor to Fox News until late 2020. He previously worked as an executive and editor-in-chief at The Washington Times. John was born and raised in the United States.
Solomon attended Marquette University, where he majored in journalism and sociology. From 1987 to 2006, John worked at the Associated Press, where he became assistant Washington bureau chief. There he helped develop some of the organization’s first digital products, such as its online election offering. The following year, he served as a national investigation correspondent for The Washington Post. A year later, he became editor-in-chief of The Washington Times. John left the station in 2009 after internal changes and financial uncertainty among the paper’s owners.
In 2013, Solomon returned to the paper to oversee the paper’s content, digital and business strategies. During his time there, he helped launch a new subscription-only national edition aimed at tablets, phones and other mobile devices. In addition, John helped craft digital strategies to expand online traffic, created new products and partnerships, and led a reorganization of the company’s advertising and sales team. He left the network in December 2015 to serve as creative director for the mobile news app Circa.
In addition, he was the President of the Packard Media Group from 2009 to 2015. He was also Executive Editor of the Center for Public Integrity in 2010. While there, he helped oversee the launch of iWatch News, but resigned a few months later to join Newsweek/The Daily Beast in May 2011. After leaving Circa, he joined The Hill, where he worked as Executive Vice President of Digital Video. John worked there for two years before leaving to start his own media company.
Prior to that, Solomon joined Fox News in October 2019 as an opinion contributor. In 2020, he launched a new show called “Just The News”, a news outlet and website. He also hosted a podcast, John Solomon Reports, on the website. In addition, John is the recipient of numerous investigative journalism awards, including the 2008 Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award and the National Investigative Award from the Society of Professional Journalists.
