Biography of John Stossel

John Stossel is a renowned American journalist, commentator, and author. He is best known for his role on the ABC news magazine 20/20. Previously, John worked for Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network. Born and raised in Chicago Height, Illinois, United States.

Stossel attended high school at New Trier High School, where he graduated before going on to Princeton University, where he received a degree in psychology in 1969. Soon after graduation, he worked at KGW in Portland, Oregon, where he served as a researcher for the team. After some time, he left the station to join WCBS in New York City, where he worked as a consumer reporter. In addition, John also worked as an editor for ABC’s Good Morning America before becoming a correspondent for 20/20 in 1981.

Additionally, Stossel was named a co-anchor of 20/20 in May 2003, while writing his first book, Give Me a Break: How I Exposed Hucksters, Cheats, and Scam Artists and Became the Scourge of the Liberal Media, which was published in 2004. In 2009, John left ABC News to join News Corp’s Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network. There he was in charge of hosting a weekly newscast entitled Stossel, on Fox Business that premiered on December 10, 2009, airing in prime time every Thursday, repeating on Saturdays and Sundays. John also appears frequently on Fox News programs on a weekly show on The O’Reilly Factor, as well as writing for the Fox News Blog, “John Stossel’s Take” and also providing subscription analysis.

In the same years, Stossel launched his own television channel called “Stossel TV” which aired on the social media platform and provided weekly videos. The channel was to help people understand the importance of government regulations and programs that help them live a better life and teach the principles and benefits of a free society.

Before that, he was also an author who wrote many books such as Myths, Lies, and Downright Stupidity: Get Out the Shovel – Why Everything You Know Is Wrong questions the validity of many conventional pearls of wisdom and argues that the belief he is conservative it’s fake. His first book, Give Me a Break: How I Exposed Hucksters, Cheats, and Scam Artists was a New York Times bestseller.
