Johnny Archer is an American journalist who currently hosts NBC 6’s weekend night news at 6 pm and 11 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. He came to the station from sister station NBC 5 KXAS in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas in December 2017.
On NBC 5, KXAS Archer served as a general reporter and most recently as a weekend anchor. Prior to that, Johnny held a variety of positions, including Idaho Falls office correspondent at KPVI-TV in Pocatello, Idaho, as well as a weekend morning anchor on WHAS 11 News in Louisville, Kentucky.
In addition, some of Archer’s most memorable news includes Ebola Crisis in Dallas in 2015 and investigative reports on appalling housing conditions in Louisville, Kentucky.
In addition, he covered several severe weather events, including catastrophic tornadoes in southern Indiana, blizzards and wildfires in eastern Idaho.
Johnny is also a member of National Association of Black Journalists, in which he is heavily involved. Archer graduated from temple university in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with a bachelor’s degree in broadcasting and telecommunications.
Johnny is an avid cyclist, runner and swimmer who has competed in half Ironman and other triathlons. He also coached high school lacrosse and reads to elementary school children as a volunteer.
