Kerry Charles Biography
Kerry Charles is an American Emmy-winning news anchor and reporter who currently works for NBC4 since joining the station in June 2020. Charles joined Fox 5 Atlanta station WAGA-TV where he served as an anchor and reporter. He is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
Born and raised in central Ohio, Kerry attended Columbus city schools and later graduated Linden-McKinley High School. He then joined the University of Cincinnati and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication.
The passion for broadcasting started early. While attending Crestview Middle School, Kerry hosted Kids Sundae, the weekly radio show aired on WCNBE 90.5FM. Furthermore, he was a young anchor and reporter for Kids News Network, which aired on Saturday mornings in Columbus.
After college, Charles began his broadcasting career at Fox 19 WXIX as a Newscast/Special Projects Producer. After working for two years, he moved to WSYX/WTTE where he held the same roles for the next two years until 2009.

In April 2009, Kerry joined KTAL-TV in Shreveport, Louisiana Area to work as a reporter and anchor. After spending 2 years at the station, Charles got a new job at WGHP in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he worked as an anchor.
From WGHP, Kerry moved to FOX 5 Atlanta, WAGA-TV to work as an anchor and reporter. It anchored weekend editions of FOX News at 6pm and 10pm, and FOX 5 NewsEdge at 11am. In addition, Charles served as the fill-in anchor for all of the week’s news.
Charles currently works at NBC4, WCMH-TV as an anchor for the weekday editions of NBC4 at 6pm, 7pm and 11pm.
Charles believes in giving back to the community. When not visiting students and local organizations, Kerry is busy serving on the St. Stephen’s Community House and the Neighborhood Design Center. He also engages in service projects through associations with Phi Beta Sigma and the National Association of Black Journalists.
Emmy winner Charles is a Fellow of Morehouse College MLK College of Ministers and Laity (2018). In 2014, the University of Cincinnati named Kerry the Communication Alumni Champion.
