Mike Jackson is an American news anchor who has currently worked for NBC4 since 1994. He has been in the broadcasting career for over 40 years, with his first job in his hometown of Charleston, WV on the radio station WCHS-AM.
Jackson is a proud graduate of West Virginia State College with an Associated Arts degree in mass communication. Mike’s first television career was at WOAY-TV in Oak Hill, WV, where he starred on the nightly news. He also worked as a sports reporter at WCHS-TV in Charleston, before working in Columbus for the first time with the local ABC affiliate.
Additionally, Jackson served as operations manager and broadcaster for WBES-FM in Charleston, W.Va. He was news director for WOAY-TV in Oak Hill, WV, and served as the night anchor on NewsChannel 8 in Washington, DC before returning to Colombo.
He received his first first prize for reporting from the National Association of Black Journalists in 1993 in Washington, DC Mike also received our local Emmy nominations for reporting and two second prize for reporting from the Society of Professional Journalists. Notably, he was also awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from The Tribute to African American Committee.
Mike has covered every presidential race since he was old enough to vote.

Mike’s first job before embarking on journalism was digging sewer pipes and learning how raw sewage was treated in the summer during his high school years. This encouraged him to study further at school. His focus is recovery after a stroke in January 2019.
