Kimberly Hunt is an Emmy Award-winning San Diego news reporter, chief anchor and managing editor for KGTV. Throughout her career, Kimberly has interviewed sitting presidents, Oprah Winfrey, and other military, political, and business leaders. She has also reported live from Super Bowl games, the Oscars, political conventions, and other events.
Hunt was born in Ventura, California, but raised in Napa. She graduated from San Diego State University, where he worked as a radio reporter for KVON/KVYN Radio in Napa during his college years.
Hunt worked for ABC Network News as a researcher for Peter Jennings during the Democratic National Convention in San Francisco in 1984 after graduating. She went on to work as an associate producer for ABC’s Monday Night Football after that.
Kimberly began her television career as a reporter for a CBS affiliate in Monterey, California. Hunt later moved to San Diego to work as an anchor for ABC affiliate KGTV in 1987. Kimberly co-anchored the evening news with Carol LeBeau for 6 years, making them the longest-tenured female anchor team in the United States.
In October 2002, Hunt joined the KUSI News team. She anchored the weeknight newscasts at 6:00 p.m., 10:00 p.m., and 11:00 p.m. for five years. Hunt also anchored the San Diego People’s weekend program. She returned to the 10News team in January 2008. She is currently the lead and main anchor, as well as the managing editor of KGTV, where she co-anchors the weeknight newscasts with Steve Atkinson at 4:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m., and 11:00 p.m.
