Kyra Minturn Sedgwick is an American actress, producer, and director. She is known for her role in the crime drama The Closer, for which she won a Golden Globe. Minturn also gained fame for her performance in Something to Talk About for which she won a Golden Globe Award. Other than that, she is also known for starring in movies like Secondhand Lions, The Game Plan, The Possession, and The Edge of Seventeen.
Kyra is a native of New York City, United States. She completed her high school studies at Friends Seminary and later attended Sarah Lawrence College. She later transferred to South California University where she majored in theater. Her career began at age 16 when she appeared on the television soap Another World as Julia Shearer. After that, Sedgwick starred in the TV show called Lanford Wilson’s Lemon Sky.
In the 1990s, she was cast in popular Hollywood films such as Singles, Heart and Souls, Something to Talk About, and Phenomenon. Two years later, Kyra starred in the Emmy Award-winning TV movie Miss Rose White as a Jewish immigrant who comes to terms with her ethnicity.
