Lonnie Quinn is an American meteorologist who currently works as a weather anchor for WCBS-TV in New York. Quinn used to serve as the weather anchor for CBS This Morning Saturday and currently appears on the CBS Evening News. He also frequently appears on sister radio station WCBS-AM 880 for its weather reports.
After his education, he graduated magna cum laude from the boston college with a bachelor’s degree in communications and swam for the Boston College swim team. He also holds a Federal Aviation Administration certificate in meteorology and works consistently to advance his formal meteorological training.
Prior to joining his current station, he worked at WTVJ, a Miami-based NBC affiliate. Here he served as a time anchor on “Today in South Florida” and won an Emmy Award for “Best on Air Talent”. In June 2007, Quinn replaced John Bolaris, who had moved to the weekends just to finish his contract.
After switching careers from acting to broadcasting, his first newsroom job was at WVIR in Charlottesville, Virginia, United States as an evening news anchor and weekend weather anchor. Prior to that, he worked at several different stations in Charlottesville. He currently performs on WCBS-TV in New York.
