Marianne Favro is an American journalist for KNTV-TV (San Jose, CA) and an EMMY Award-winning reporter for NBC Bay Area. She was named 2006 Reporter of the Year by The Associated Press. Favro also received the Surgeon General’s Award for Best Medical Reporting.
She has also won five Emmy Awards, one for a story about Stanford medical students who work with horses to learn how to improve patients’ abilities. Her most recent Emmy was for her coverage of the Ghost Ship warehouse fire in Oakland.
Marianne was recently one of the only broadcast journalists to receive a Knight Fellowship, participating in a special program for journalists at the Centers for Disease Control. She also completed a marathon to raise money for the Leukemia Society. Favro also volunteers with the American Heart Association, The Diabetes Society and the MS Society.
Her other professional achievements include the Golden Microphone Award for Best Newscast. She also won the Radio and TV News Directors Association (RTNDA) Best Serious Feature Award for a profile of a local Titanic survivor.
