Miles Bridges is a professional American basketball player who plays the role of a small/powerful striker in the National Basketball Association (NBA). A native of Michigan, he completed his college career with the Spartans of Michigan State University. During his time with the Spartans, Miles was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2017 and also participated in McDonald’s All-American Game in 2016. The star of the Charlotte Hornets was born on March 21, 1998, as Miles Emmanuel Bridges in Flint, Michigan. He was born to African-American parents Raymond Bridges and his wife Cynthia Bridges. His father was a two-time champion at Flint Northern High School, and he taught Miles everything he knew about basketball from the age of two. Miles is an American nationality, while his ethnicity is Black American.

Growing up, Miles attended Woodland Park Academy, a middle school in Grand Blanc, Michigan. For his high school career, he was enrolled at Flint Southwestern Academy and later transferred to Huntington Prep School in West Virginia.

During his high school basketball career, Miles averaged 9.9 rebounds and 9.8 points per game while leading the team to a 29-5 record as a student. The following year he led Huntington Prep to the semi-finals, scoring 8 rebounds and 21 points before losing to Oak Hill Academy in the Dick’s Sporting Goods High School Nationals Tournament. By the end of his junior year, Miles averaged 10.6 rebounds and 15.7 points per game. In the summer of 2015, he participated in the NBPA Top 100 Camp.

In his senior year, the boy earned a place in McDonald’s All-American game as well as Jordan’s classic 2016 All-Star game after averaging 10.0 rebounds and 25.0 points per game during the season. When the young and promising player finished his high school career with a good grade, many of the top universities, including Oregon and Kentucky, were looking for him to recruit him for their team. Miles eventually signed up for his college career at Michigan State University. When he joined the Spartans, he made his first appearance on November 12, 2016, scoring seven rebounds and 21 points in their victory over the University of Arizona. He finished his first season with an average of 8.3 rebounds and 16.9 points per game. For his breathtaking performance, Miles Bridges was named “Big Ten Freshman of the Year” and was voted into the second team of the “All-Big Ten”.

In his second year, the Michigan-born player was voted into the All-Big-Ten first team and the Consensus All-American second team after an average of 7.0 rebounds and 17.1 points per game. Although he helped the Spartans reach the 2018 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, the team did not make it to the final of the tournament. At the end of his second season, Miles signed up for the 2018 NBA draft, while giving up the remaining two seasons of his college career.

During the 2018 NBA draft, Miles Bridges was ranked 11th by the Los Angeles Clippers and then traded to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Hornet selection Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Although the Hornets did not make it to the NBA playoffs, they managed to finish third in the Southeast Division.
