Monica Malpass Biography
Monica Malpass is an American journalist and former television anchor for WPVI Action News from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She co-hosted WPVI’s 5pm weekly news and hosted Inside Story, the station’s political chat show. As of June 1, 2020, Malpass is a trade anchor on the NASDAQ MarketSite.
Malpass holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which she won in 1983. She also received a Rotary Scholarship for the University of Puerto Rico in 1984.
Malpass graduated in Villanova University common master’s degree in political science in 1999. She also completed the Brookings Institution’s Inside Washington program and received an honorary Doctorate degree of Humanitarian Letters from Neumann College in Pennsylvania.
Monica began her career as a reporter for The Daily Tar Heel, a student-run newspaper at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She went on to work as an anchor and reporter for WCHL-AM in Chapel Hill, a reporter for WFMY-TV in Greensboro, and a reporter and anchor for WXII-TV in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
In January 1988, Malpass began working for WPVI (Channel 6), a local ABC affiliate in Philadelphia. She started her career as an anchor for a morning paper. Monica was also recognized as the Broadcast Pioneers of the Philadelphia Hall of Fame in 2006.
Malpass announced his departure from the WPVI on May 22, 2019, after 31 years. She didn’t say where she was going. She is now a business anchor on the NASDAQ MarketSite as of June 1, 2020.
