Biography of Nina Pineda
Nina Pineda is an award-winning American journalist currently working as a consumer reporter for WABC-TV based in New York. Prior to WABC-TV, she worked as a reporter for WTAE-TV.
Pineda grew up in Pennsylvania and attended Syracuse University for pre-law. However, she ended up with a degree in communication and political science. Immediately after her graduation, Nina had ambitions to become the first congresswoman from Fayette County, a rural area south of Pittsburgh.
At the age of 24, Nina began her broadcasting career in Washington, D.C. on WTTG. She later worked as a reporter for WTAE for a few months before moving on to WABC-TV where she covered some of the groundbreaking stories.
On the station, Nina has covered some of the biggest stories of her generation and is the face of WABC-TV’s “7 On Your Side.” Over the past 4 years, Pineda and his Channel 7 team have reached a milestone for Channel 7 viewers – helping Superstorm Sandy victims and defrauded consumers recover more than $1,000,000 through their troubleshooting unit and help to the station’s consumer.
Her reporting took her from the center of some of the worst natural disasters in the United States, Hurricane Katrina and Superstorm Sandy, to some of the country’s most historic moments – the inauguration of President Barack Obama and the 9/11 attacks.

Pineda’s reporting on September 11, 2001, under the towers of the World Trade Center, helped Nina and her colleagues at WABC and ABC News win the prestigious Peabody Award for Excellence in Journalism.
Additionally, Nina is very active in the Tri-State charity community, participates in fundraisers for various Asian and women’s organizations including the Asian Women’s Center of New York and women’s organizations including the Asian Women’s Center of New York.
