Pete Gallivan Biography
Pete Gallivan is an American journalist who is currently co-anchoring Daybreak on WGRZ Channel 2 in Buffalo, New York. He began his career at radio station Brockport in 1987. Later, in 1996, Pete returned to Buffalo, working at WGRZ-TV as a general reporter, weekend anchor, and Daybreak anchor.
Gallivan attended a public school in Buffalo. He holds a degree in Visual and Performing Arts from the Buffalo Academy. He also studied for a degree in Communications at Brockport.
Pete began his career in Brockport in 1987, working at a small radio station. He later left for Disk Jockey and eventually got a job as a news director for WASB-Tv. His next career took him to local radio stations Canandaigua, Warsaw and Rochester. He later discovered his passion for visual storytelling in Rochester as a reporter for WHEC-TV and later as a reporter for WROC-Tv.
Additionally, in 1996, Gallivan returned to his hometown of Buffalo, New York to work at WGRZ. He has since served as a general reporter, weekend anchor and co-anchor for Daybreak.
Pete received two NYS Emmys, an Edward R. Murrow Regional Award and an Associated Press Award. He is also a member of the Daybreak team that won an Emmy for breakfast.
