Biography of Sage Steele

Sage Marie Steele is a well-known American television anchor who co-hosts ESPN’s SportsCenter (12:00 ET) with Matt Barrie. Furthermore, she is one of the most popular and respected anchors on ESPN and has garnered immense fame for her excellent presentation skills. Marie has also worked for several sports channels such as WISH-TV, ABC WFTS, NBA and Fox Sports. Furthermore, it is also notable for its top sports events covered including Super Bowl, NBA Finals, World Series and many more.

Sage was born and raised in the Panama Canal Zone, where she attended Thomas B. Doherty High School in Colorado Springs for two years. She then transferred to Carmel High School for her senior year and graduated in 1990 before going on to Indiana University. There she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sports communication. After college, she was hired as a news producer and reporter at WSBT-TV, a CBS affiliate in South Bend, Indiana.

There she worked for two years before moving and joining WISH-TV in Indianapolis, Indiana as a weekend morning sports anchor and weekday reporter. In addition, her reporting duties included the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, and local collegiate and collegiate sports. From 1998 to 2001, Steele worked at ABC affiliate WFTS in Tampa, Florida as a sports reporter alongside former WFTS sports director Jay Crawford. Furthermore, she also worked at Fox Sports Florida as a reporter and covered Super Bowl XXXV in the 2000-01 NFL season.

Prior to joining CSN, Saga worked as an anchor and reporter for the network’s nightly local sports news program, SportsNite. Over at Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic in Bethesda, Maryland, Steele also covered all sporting events in the Washington, DC and Baltimore area. During her six years at CSN Mid-Atlantic, she was a lead anchor as well as a reporter for the Baltimore Ravens. In 2007, she joined ESPN as the ET edition of SportsCenter at 6 pm ET. In addition to SportsCenter, she has appeared on First Take and Mike & Mike and was a guest co-host on ESPN2’s SportsNation.

Steele also hosted ABC and ESPN’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve during the inaugural College Football playoff. From 2010 to 2013, she hosted the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Furthermore, Saga also co-hosted the 2017 and 2018 Miss America beauty pageant on ABC alongside Chris Harrison. More recently, Steele moved from the 6 pm edition to the midday edition of SportsCenter, where she now co-hosts alongside Matt Barrie. Additionally, she serves on the board of the Pat Tillman Foundation.
