His most celebrated work is his role as a restaurant owner, Luke Danes through seven seasons of the television show Gilmore Girls. He is also known as Agent Peter Strahm in Saw IV, Saw V, and Saw VI.

Among the victories he recorded in baseball, he won 13 consecutive games as a starting pitcher in 1981, setting a Braves record for the most consecutive wins at the start of a season, and was named Braves Minor League Pitcher of the Month twice. In addition, Scott Patterson was named All-Stars in 1986, once as Pitcher of the Month and three times as Pitcher of the Week in the Minor League while playing for the Yankees.

He had already taken his course very early in his life and founded his first band with his longtime friend Tommy Poitras in the third grade. The band called The Unknowns played only two songs, one of which was The Beatles’ Back in the USSR and the second one I’m Not Your Stepping Stone.

In 1988 Scott and John Bishop formed a theater company, the Arclight Theatre Company in Soho, New York City. He received his first film role in 1993 in the Little Big League of Castle Rock. He played his first leading role in the feature film Her Best Move. The Gilmore Girls actor was married to Vera Davich, his high school sweetheart, in 1983. Their marriage was short-lived, ending two years after a divorce in 1985, but Scott gave immaturity as the reason for their separation.
It was not known for more than a decade that he was involved in another after his first relationship until he met Kristine Saryan on the set of Gilmore Girls. The duo met in 2001 and are said to have been living together since August 2001. Kristine Saryan appeared in the series in 2002.
