Steven Furtick is a renowned American pastor, songwriter and New York Times bestselling author. That was in his book credit; Greater and Sun Stand Still in 2010. He helped Charlotte Elevation Church reach a regular attendance of 12,000 during his leadership.
As founder and lead pastor, he built Elevation Church into a global ministry through online streaming, television and music from Elevation Worship.
Born and raised in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, Steven attended Berkeley High School. However, at age 16, Furtick felt a call to the priesthood after reading Jim Cymbala’s book Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire.
He received a bachelor’s degree in communication from North Greenville University. In addition, he holds a Master of Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
After working as music director at Christ Covenant Church in Shelby, North Carolina, Steven moved to Charlotte, where he founded Elevation Church. This church had its first service on February 5, 2006.
