T-Pain was named Faheem Rashad Najm when he was born on September 30, 1985, in Tallahassee, Florida, USA, to parents Shaheed and Aliyah Najm. He grew up in a family that was highly religious, although it seems they had difficulty making ends meet. T-Pain’s parents are devout Muslims who tried to educate him as such, but he never had much love for the bonds of religion and chose instead to renounce ties to Islamic or any other religion.
His father remembers that since his childhood he always had a drumstick in his hand. His parents soon saw the gifts in him and took great steps to encourage him.
