Biography of Ted Haggard
Ted Haggard is a renowned American pastor, author, and public speaker who is the founding pastor of St. James in Colorado Springs , Colorado. Haggard is also the Church Planting Director for the Rio Conference of the Free Methodist Church and the founder and coordinator of the Network of Redeeming Churches.
Born and raised in Yorktown, Indiana, United States, Ted attended Oral Roberts University, a Christian university in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He later graduated in 1978 with a major in telecommunications and a major in journalism.
Afterwards, Haggard studied master’s-level counseling at the University of Phoenix, earning an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Colorado Christian University.
After marrying his wife Gayle in 1978, the two founded their first church, New Life Church. This property has enjoyed 22 consecutive years of double-digit growth through conversions. They’ve seen it grow from 20 people gathered in their basement to 14,000 people gathered on a $60 million campus.
His second church came later, St. James Church. He also served as president of the 30 million-member National Association of Evangelicals from 2003 to 2006.

He even founded the Association of Life-Giving Churches which later merged with the Association of Related Churches in the year 2006. In 2006, Haggard resigned from all leadership positions for a period of healing and restoration.
