Tyrone Edwards

Tyrone Edwards is a Canadian television broadcaster and businessman, currently co-host of CTV’s Talk and entertainment magazine program. He was a renowned figure in Toronto before working as a journalist. Tyrone was a partner at 1LoveTO, a Toronto community and entertainment blog that expanded in 2011 into a clothing line.

He was born and raised in Toronto’s west end and attended Hillside College in Michigan. He also played basketball at NCCA while studying Business and Speech there. After graduating from college, he was hired as a host by RAPCITY.

In 2011 he was hired by Muchmusic as the new host of RapCity, and served as an entertainment reporter and host for sister station E!. He joined eTalk as a reporter in 2018. A versatile presenter and interviewer, he brings a passion for connecting with people and helping them share their stories with the world.

In June 2020, he co-hosted with CTV’s Anne-Marie Mediwake, Marcilen and Elaine Lui of Change & Action: Racism in Canada, a public affairs special created by the network in response to the global anti-racism protests raging followed the murder of gEORGR Floyd and the current Canadian controversies surrounding the death of Regis Korchinski-Paquet. He was later announced as co-host of eTalk, replacing Ben Mulroney and joined Chloe Wilde from the Tiff Tribute Awards telecast for the 2020 Toronto International Film Festival.

In addition to his television work, he is a partner in Miss Likklemore’s, a Caribbean food restaurant on Queen Street West. During the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada, Edward and his original 1LoveTO partners also launched See You Soon, Toronto, a special clothing line whose proceeds were donated entirely to charities assisting workers affected by the pandemic shutdowns.

Off-screen, Tyrone is heavily involved in his community, serving as a mentor and coach to underserved youth. Having once worked as a camp counselor at Toronto Parks and Recreation, Tyrone founded Concrete Hoops, a non-profit basketball camp that aims to incorporate life skills with a love of the game. He was also a program lead for the urban youth-focused Remix Project, an organization that helps children from all 13 of Toronto’s priority neighborhoods learn the fundamentals of the arts and entertainment business and assists them in their educational aspirations.

In honor of his work as a television presenter and with numerous charities. He has a foundation to support underprivileged youth. Tyrone received the 2016 Mandela Legacy Hope, Success, and Empowerment Award, alongside Naomi Campbell and Reverend AI Sharpton.
