According to the US Embassy in Mexico, she and her three relatives arrived in Matamoros Tamaulipas in a white minivan with North Carolina license plates. They are appealing to the public for help in recognizing the kidnappers.
The shooters opened fire on the passengers as their vehicle crossed into Mexican land herding them into another car and fleeing the area.

Latavia “Tay” McGee went to Mexico for medical care with her cousin Woodard and their friends Brown and Williams according to her mother Barbara Burgess and was kidnapped there on Friday.
Latavia “Tay” McGee’s present whereabouts are unknown and authorities are investigating the situation.
On the day of the meeting, Burgess claimed she called her daughter and was told she was only a few minutes away from the doctor’s office. However, McGee’s phone was no longer accessible after that.

Barbara now told ABC News that she was concerned about her daughter’s cosmetic surgery trip and urged her not to go. But before embarking on the journey on Wednesday her daughter informed her “Mom I’ll be fine” she recalled.
McGee was scheduled to have surgery on Friday. Burgess stated that she called her mother to inform her that she was 15 minutes away from the doctor’s workplace.
Her daughter has not communicated with her since. “Her phone just went to voicemail” Burgess told the news network.
According to White House reports the State Department Department of Homeland Security and Mexican officials are working together to return the abducted victims.
“We will continue to cooperate with Mexico and press them to prosecute those involved” Jean-Pierre said.
The FBI is investigating the matter alongside other federal partners and Mexican law enforcement agencies.
The group is asking the public for help in finding the abducted citizens and has declared a $50000 reward for their safe return and the capture of the suspects responsible.
