
William Brangham Biography
William Brangham is an Emmy Award-winning journalist who is currently a correspondent for PBS NewsHour. Prior to this role, William worked as a producer on several other television shows for PBS. In his journalistic career, Brangham won a Peabody Award in 2015 and an Emmy Award for News and Documentary in 2017.
William participated Colorado College, where he studied English language and literature from 1986 to 1990. He later graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Brangham began his career as a research assistant and later as an associate producer and field producer for several Bill Moyers documentaries and series. In addition, he has worked on a variety of documentaries and projects for ABC News, National Geographic’s Explorer series, various segments of PBS’s Frontline (1995-1996), and The New York Times Science Times documentary series (2001).
Additionally, Brangham returned to Moyer’s production company for PBS Magazine Now. In production, William filmed, wrote and produced dozens of features and interviews for six years. In October 2017, the six-part PBS NewsHour series “The End of AIDS?”, for which Brangham was the correspondent, won an Emmy Award for News and Documentary in the category “Outstanding Scientific, Medical and Environmental Reporting”. The series also received several other awards, including the National Academies Communication Award in the “Film/Radio/TV” category.
